Day 11: Pages 31-33

So what's cool about this section is that it is a recapagain of Lehi's dream or vision. Nephi seems a bit harsh to his brothers when they say they don't understand, but asks a great question "Have ye inquired of the Lord?" (15:8). How often do we forget to ask for the help that we need? Nephi then continues to explain the vision to them through a series of questions and answers.

Chapter 16 has a commonly used scripture that I want to point out. In the first verse Laman and Lemuel tell Nephi that his prophesies and explanations were hard "more than they were able to bear." Nephi responds in verse 2 "I knew that I had spoken hard things against the wicked, according to the truth...wherefore the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center." Have you heard that before?

A word of caution about this scripture. It is a great scripture, but make sure you are applying it to yourself and not to others. If a principle or standard of the Church is particularly hard for you to "bear" than perhaps you should be looking inside yourself to see if something in your life is out of line and, therefore, making the "truth" "hard".
