Day 5: Pages 13-15

Lehi's dream is the most obvious topic to blog about, but really, we'll cover that when Nephi gets his translation of the dream. However, I would recommend making yourself a sketch of the dream. There are a lot of pictures depicting the dream, but making one yourself from the actual text will really help you organize the dream and picture it your way.

Three quick things from before Lehi's dream in our reading today.

1. Forgotten
Nephi uses this word a lot (3 times in 3 verses- 7:10-13). Must be important for us to try not to forget the things that we learn.

2. God's way vs. our way
When Nephi's brothers tie him up, (chapter 7 verses 16-18) Nephi prays to the Lord and asks him to give him strength to "burst" the ropes. BURST. So Nephi wanted to be like superman and put on a show by bursting the ropes in front of his brothers. What does the Lord do? In verse 18 it says the bands were "loosed". Not quite so dramatic, but just as effective. The Lord listens to Nephi, but accomplishes the task in His way, not Nephi's.

3. Tender Mercies
Chapter 8 verse 8. Who is talking about tender mercies now?
