Day 20: Pages 58-60

This is truly one of the great sermons of the Book of Mormon. Lehi in talking Jacob, outlines principles that are fundamental to our religion and really set us apart from other Christians. Honestly, this should be read several times just to take in the doctrines!

I particularly like verses 22 and 23. Lehi introduces some ground-breaking doctrines, "If Adam had not transgressed...all things which were created must have remained in the same state...

"And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin."

This is so fundamental for us as members of the LDS faith, but to many this is a completely foreign concept - Adam and Eve had to fall in order to bring about the plan of God. They chose to partake of the fruit and in so doing brought the opportunity of salvation to each of us!
